A Week In the Karoo

The Karoo is a semi-desert-esque area of South Africa, full of sheep and goat farms, tumble weeds, springbok, bed and breakfasts, farm stalls and beautiful mountain views off in the distance.
Ross and I hopped in the "bucky" Easter morning and took off for a family holiday and a relaxing week off from studying...

After driving through Bedford and Somerset East, we made it to Wheatlands, a beautiful farm located just under an hour outside of Graaff-Reinet and owned by Ross's Aunt, Uncle and cousins, the Shorts.  Luckily, being family, we stayed for free in the beautiful and historical farm houses, but for those of you wishing to travel to the area, Wheatlands has a lovely bed and breakfast.  The great old house is fully equipped with antique furniture and nik-naks from around the world.  It also brags an extensive library, six beautiful bedrooms, four sitting verandas, provided meals, an extensive and beautiful garden and access to the Wheatlands club, which houses a cricket field and tennis courts.  But, most importantly for us, the farm houses a lovely family and four beautiful little second cousins...
