About Me

The title explains it all...I am an Expat in Africa...

Where I'm From:
I am from Whitefish, Montana, USA
I grew up skiing every weekend in the winter and jumping into glacier-fed lakes every weekend in the summer (potentially slight exaggeration...SLIGHT).  I'll argue to the death that it is the most beautiful place on the planet.  And while I love living abroad, it must be said that I LOVE America.

Where I Live:
I currently live in Grahamstown, South Africa.  I've been here about a month and have alot of exploring to do before November, when I will move to Zimbabwe.

Why I Live in Africa:
There are a number of things that I am doing in Africa, but to sum it all up into one reason, I am here because of my fiance, who is from Zimbabwe.  We are going to graduate school this year at Rhodes University in Grahamstown (where he went to undergrad).  I'm working on a Master's in Sociology.  Next year we will move to Zimbabwe, where we will work for a high school teaching and implementing sustainable development projects...yeah, I know, my life is pretty exciting :)

My First Expat Experience:
In May of 2009, I moved to South Korea to teach English.  I lived there two years and it was AMAZING.  Korea will always hold a very special place in my heart.  Not only did it begin my life as an Expat, it brought me to Ross.  It is a vibrant culture, a beautiful landscape, a hectic sensory overload and a place of magical wonderment (long story)...remind me to tell you about it sometime :)
